Hmmm, so is your Uplay app completely up to date? Sometimes restarting the computer works. And if I let it loop too many times, UPlay then says my account has been temporarily suspended due to "bad logins or activations". It keeps doing this until I interrupt it by killing conviction_game.exe and UPlay in Task Manager. Then UPlay closes it's window (but is still in the system tray) and Steam goes back to it's splash screen and tries loading the game again. Got those dealt with, but it just puts up the banner from Steam saying it's starting, then UPlay starts and says it is loading the game.
